Chiltern Young Walkers is a friendly and sociable walking group aimed at people in their 20s-30s which offer a diverse variety of walks and social events.

Explore the beautiful Chilterns countryside

We love finding new places and sharing the places we know with others. All walks are led by members of the Group. Any member can volunteer to lead a walk; if you have not led before you could attend one of our informal training events or buddy up with a more experienced leader.

Make new friends

We are over 150 people from their 20s to early 40s who enjoy walking and socialising. Most of our walks end at the pub, a great way to get to know fellow members. You will see familiar faces and often meet new people each time you come. Along with our walks, we have an active socials programme with regular pub nights and other social events.

Get some exercise

We believe you can improve your health and have fun walking with us. With leisurely walks from 5 miles to more strenuous 15+ mile hikes, we have something to suit everyone.

We will welcome you on any walk; just choose one suitable for you. There’s no need to contact anyone beforehand unless stated in the walk description, just turn up.  You are free to enjoy three different events before you decide to join us as a member.  We look forward to meeting you on a walk soon.

A part of something bigger

We are part of and funded by the Ramblers, and our group was formed in 2000 as the Chilterns 20-30s Walking Group, one of a network of Ramblers groups aimed at people in their 20s and 30s, in addition to groups aimed at slightly older walkers.  In 2017 we relaunched the group as the Chiltern Young Walkers.

Who are the Ramblers?

Britain's walking charity working to create a Britain where everyone has the freedom to enjoy the outdoors on foot and to protect and expand the places people love to walk and promote walking for health and pleasure.  Together we are

  • the guardians of the footpath network
  • the advocates of the right to roam
  • the protectors of the countryside
  • the champions of walking
  • a healthy, friendly and fun group of outdoor-minded people of all ages
